March 2026 Blog
A range of interesting gigs completed over the New Year including Jazz on a railway station and a guest appearance at the Livermead Cliff Hotel, Torquay with the “Vic Partridge Jazz Band”
News that we have secured funding for a three day Jazz festival in August supported by the Pontypridd Town Council and always a delight to play with the UK Kevin Grenfell Falcons Band and Sauce City Jazz Band are keeping me busy. My monthly Jazz Club at the Three Horseshoes, St Athan, continues to be well supported and I am looking forward to my first visit to The Tipsy Owl this month.
NOVEMBER BLOG
Another interesting month, kicking off with a private function in a care home in Bristol, followed by my monthly jazz club on the sixth. Delighted my good friends from the Midlands are coming to the Three Horseshoes. It promises to be another great evening. Gigs further afield include Solihull and Stafford jazz clubs punctuated with local gigs at Caldicot, St Julian's and Lysaghts in Newport. A sad duty this month is to play at the funeral of jazz great Arthur Brown in Bridgewater.
OCTOBER BLOG
Its another month of various gigs and opportunities to play with great musicians in terrific venues. Delighted to play at the Rhydyfelin Jazz Festival and also to play with the Kevin Grenfell Jazz Falcons. My varied line up at the Three Horseshoes continues to keep the monthly jazz club well supported and Amanda Magrin has asked me to join her at the Small Space in Barry. Nice to have something local. Looking forward to returning to the very popular BD club in Cossington at the end of the month.
For further details, I have updated my Gig List page and added some more pics from recent gigs and a terrific review of a recent wedding trio for a lovely couple.

Another Busy MONTH
Lovely to be back at the Old Duke in Bristol with Shanghai Shuffle. Monthly jazz club at St Athan remains very popular and delighted to see that one of my regulars sent in an article to Just Jazz magazine issue No 329 page 5. A month of weddings and a very sensitive funeral in Treorchy. Lots of gigs in the Midlands with Sauce City Jazz Band including Halesowen and Warmley Jazz clubs. Highlight for me personally was to put the New Riverside Jazz Band into the annual Blaenavon Heritage Railway Steam Gala. See Special Events on this website.
AUGUST BLOG
I am excited about another busy month with gigs in Aberaeron and Fishguard followed by a quick trip to the Midlands to Sutton Coldfield Jazz Club, Delighted to be playing at Aberjazz with my own band together with my regular monthly Jazz club on the first Thursday of every month. The club goes from strength to strength thanks to loyal fans and great musicians who are happy to travel long distances to keep the club fresh and exciting.
A recent activity is my monthly banjo solos I record for Banjo Club UK,
Finally but not least, I am delighted to be asked to become a core member of the Kevin Grenfell Jazz Falcons - see promo image below. This is a new venture for Kevin which already has many gigs lined up to play across the UK in 2026. Thanks Kev!
June and July are busy months for me. Highlights are three festivals, Swanage, Eastnor Castle and Upton on Severn, a prestigious charity gala in the lovely The Bear Hotel, Cowbridge and jazz clubs in Beoley, Warmley, Whiteheads and St Julians. I am delighted to also be playing for Narberth Jazz at their annual gala in Lampeter House and with the Sauce City Jazz band in a lovely retirement home in Hagley, Worcestershire. Some of my good friends, Kevin, Gethin, Andy, Joe and Ian have also invited me to play with them at some of their gigs this month. My feature “ Grandfathers Clock” and “Precious Lord” continue to be requested. After a long search, I found tenor banjo music by A,J, Weidt which is keeping my practice sessions varied.
